Asian online travel company ZUJI has launched
a lowest airfare SMS alert service for
local mobile subscribers in Singapore, reports
Hotel Marketing.
"With more than 50 destinations to choose
from, travellers can send an SMS to ZUJI stating
their chosen destination. They will then receive
an SMS reply with the lowest airfare available,
and can visit zuji.com/sms to book."
Surf's Up on SMS - Feb 8 2004
Australia's Daily, the Sunday Herald Sun, is
offering a "Surf's Up" SMS service for breaking
waves and updated surf conditions from the most
popular surf beaches. Mobile surfers should call
188 1027 and enter TOR for Torquay, BEL (Bell's
Beach), GUN (Gunnamatta) or WOO (Woolamai).
Calls cost 99 cents per minute.

Symantec's DeepSight will give customers an
early warning of computer viruses with the
ability to track the outbreaks on the Internet.
Additionally an optional Alert Service is on
offer which will send alerts via e-mail, fax,
voice call or SMS, according to
Infoworld.
Microsoft made headline news in August, when
they sent out their first critical security
alert via SMS after the Blaster worm hit
Australia.
Yahoo! UK Unveils Email Alert Service

Yahoo Mail will launch an SMS alert service
for its email users based in the UK and Ireland
next month. The service sends an SMS alert to a
mobile user when an urgent or selected email
comes into his Yahoo Mail In-box, according to
Web User.
USA Terror Alerts by SMS - Jun 6 2003
AlertsUSA will be offering domestic terrror
alerts by SMS, "providing instant notification
of domestic terror alerts, warnings and other
related information issued by the Department of
Homeland Security, Department of
Justice/FBI/National Infrastructure Protection
Center, Department of State and a number of
other related federal agencies", per an article
in
InfoSync.
Other countries which offer terror alerts are
Israel and England.
